Why bareroot pre-packaged roses?

Bareroot plants may seem a strange notion at first, but especially in our moderate climate, they have multiple advantages.

It all starts with the roots. Establishing strong root systems of young plants is essential to their health. Bareroot plants that go into the ground during dormancy (the slowing of their systems with cold weather) suffer less transplant shock, making them more able to settle in and start their establishment periods. Though the weather may be cold, soil temperatures remain warmer allowing roots to get acclimated until the ground may freeze. When the weather warms, it signals the plants to start their normal Spring processes with the head start of established roots.

Another advantage of purchasing bareroot plants is that they offer a much broader selection of varieties and take up much less space in the nursery, allowing for better range than could be offered in containers. Plus, they are light, easy to transport and less expensive because they come from the growers in soilless bundles—all good news for you.
