Delicious Garden-Fresh Summer Drinks
Want to enjoy a refreshing summer drink that incorporates garden-fresh ingredients? We've got 4 recipes for you to choose from—3 that are alcohol free and one made with tequila made from blue agave. Go ahead and celebrate 😉!
1. Cucumber-Mint Lemonade
Ingredients:
- 2 cucumbers, peeled and chopped
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1/2 cup fresh mint leaves
- 4 cups cold water
- 1/4 cup honey or sugar (adjust to taste)
Instructions:
- Blend the cucumbers and mint leaves in a blender until smooth.
- Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher.
- Add lemon juice, cold water, and honey/sugar to the pitcher. Stir well.
- Serve over ice and garnish with cucumber slices and mint leaves.
2. Watermelon-Basil Cooler
Ingredients:
- 4 cups diced seedless watermelon
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
- Juice of 1 lime
- 2 cups sparkling water
- Ice cubes
Instructions:
- Blend the watermelon, basil leaves, and lime juice in a blender until smooth.
- Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher.
- Add sparkling water to the pitcher and stir gently.
- Pour over ice cubes in individual glasses and garnish with fresh basil leaves.
3. Strawberry-Lemon Spritzer
Ingredients:
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- Juice of 2 lemons
- 4 cups sparkling water
- 2 tablespoons honey or sugar (adjust to taste)
- Ice cubes
Instructions:
- In a blender, blend the strawberries, lemon juice, and honey/sugar until smooth.
- Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a pitcher.
- Add sparkling water to the pitcher and stir gently.
- Pour over ice cubes in individual glasses and garnish with strawberry slices.
- Remember to adjust the sweetness according to your taste preference.
- You can also add fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme to enhance the flavors.
4. Blue Agave Margarita
Ingredients:
- 2 ounces tequila made from blue agave
- 1 ounce blue curaçao liqueur
- 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
- 1/2 ounce agave nectar
- Ice cubes
- Salt or sugar (for rimming the glass)
- Lime wedge or blueberries (for garnish)
Instructions
- Rim a margarita glass with salt or sugar by moistening the rim with a lime wedge and dipping it into a plate with salt or sugar.
- Fill the glass with ice cubes to chill it.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, blue curaçao liqueur, lime juice, and agave nectar.
- Fill the shaker with ice cubes and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to chill the mixture.
- Discard the ice from the margarita glass and strain the cocktail into the glass.
- Garnish with a lime wedge or a few blueberries on a cocktail pick.
- Serve and enjoy!
Note: If you prefer your margarita to be sweeter, you can adjust the amount of agave nectar according to your taste. You can also add a splash of club soda for some effervescence if desired.
