  • Light Needs: Filtered sun (for light colors). Full sun to part-shade with filtered sun in extreme heat (for deep reds).
  • Watering Needs: Water regularly, when top 3 inches of soil is dry.
  • Blooms: Often long blooming season, late winter to mid-spring.
  • Landscape Uses: Borders, containers, cutting gardens, espalier, mass planting, privacy screen, specimen or woodland garden.

Also known as Purple Lilac Vine, this dependable evergreen vine (Hardenbergia violacea) is an interesting, intricate, tough, twisting, subtle vine with bright purple flowers.

  • Light Needs: Best in partial light shade. Will tolerate full sun (without reflective heat sources).
  • Watering Needs: Water regularly, allowing soil to just dry between waterings.
  • Blooms: Late winter/early spring blooms.
