Aloe Vera has Many Wonderful Uses

Easy to Grow: An Aloe Vera plant is easy to take care of. Here are just a few things to keep in mind when watering your Aloe Vera plant:

  • It’s much easier to overwater an Aloe Vera plant than to underwater it
  • When planting into a larger pot, use a soil that drains well—such as a sandy soil or cactus mix
  • When transferring it to a pot of similar size that is small in size, any good potting soil will work because small pots tend to drain faster than large ones
  • Aloe Vera plants like sun but grow best in indirect sun

Aloe Vera has Many Wonderful Uses: Your mom was onto something when she snipped off the tip of an aloe leaf and squeezed it onto your sunburn. In studies, this plant has been shown to help heal minor wounds eight days faster than a standard dressing—not to mention its antibacterial and contains vitamins and minerals that can ease eczema and psoriasis flare-ups. Creative and enterprising beauty experts are using it for a lot more than the occasional cut or rash; they’re using it to get gorgeous, too!

  • Makeup Remover – Some makeup removers contain harsh chemicals that are very drying to your skin. A little Aloe Vera gel on a cotton ball works great to remove daily eye makeup.
  • Shaving Cream – It’s antibacterial, which is great for nicks. The slippery consistency encourages a nice close shave and it moisturizes too.
  • Soothing Ice Cube – directions:
    • Cut one of the long-stemmed leaves into 2 inch pieces.
    • Set on a plate and put in the freezer.
    • Once frozen, remove the pieces and place them in a zip top bag; place the bag back into the freezer.
    • Then, when you have a sun burn, use a piece of the frozen Aloe Vera plant directly on your skin. The cool, soothing nature of the Aloe makes for instant sunburn relief!
  • Mouth Rinse – Ingredients:
    • 1 ounce of Aloe Vera gel
    • 1 ½ teaspoon of baking soda
    • 1 ounce of water
    • lemon
Directions: Mix all the ingredients together and add a squeeze of lemon. Use within about 10 minutes. Rinse and spit.
  • To Tackle Chronic Bad Breath – Dissolve up to ¼ cup of pure Aloe Vera gel into a ½ cup of water or apple juice; drink and enjoy!
  • Aloe Vera Hand Sanitizer – Ingredients:
    • 2/3 cup rubbing alcohol
    • 1/3 cup Aloe Vera gel
    • 10 drops of essential oil – we recommend Lavender
Directions: Mix all the ingredients together and place into an empty pump container for use.
  • An Anti-Inflammatory to Soothe Acid Indigestion – Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a digestive disorder that often results in symptoms including heartburn. Consuming 1 to 3 ounces of pure Aloe Vera gel at mealtimes could reduce the severity of GERD and other digestion-related problems. The plant’s low toxicity makes it a safe and gentle remedy.
  • Brighten your Skin – Aloe Vera helps to keep your skin clear and hydrated. The combination of the moist leaf and special plant compounds, called complex carbohydrates, make it an effective face moisturizer and even a pain reliever!
  • Battle Against Breast Cancer – A compound called aloe-emodin in Aloe Vera leaves, could slow down the spread of breast cancer cells.
